Change Leaders Challenge

This is a unique leadership programme where organisational leaders work with social changemakers - generating impact inside and outside.

About the Programme

A Learning Journey of Impact for Corporate Leaders

In this one year thoughtful programme, the senior managers, who we call Change Leaders, have two extraordinary journeys - inner and outer.

The first journey begins with a deep dive into their own lives in an incredible life-changing leadership programme, from which the Change Leaders emerge as transformed, empathetic beings.

The second journey is one of working together with a Changemaker (head of a small, on-the-ground NGO) for a year to create increased impact through the collective wisdom, capability of both persons.

The bonus of this programme – Change Leaders Challenge – is that for each Change Leader, an NGO’s organisation is impacted. While the Change Leader learns capabilities and gains an incredibly enriching perspective, the Changemaker will also have learnt from the Change Leader, with a long-term transfer of skills that will benefit the NGO, and thus the impact made on the ground.

About Global Action on Poverty (GAP) and its Changemakers (Heads of NGOs)

A GAP Changemaker is a founder of an NGO, a social enterprise or any individual executing a project. A Changemaker is someone who is committed, passionate with communities that are in poverty or are less advantaged. More details on www.gapoverty.org

Global Action on Poverty intends to impact 1 million people living in poverty, through a community of changemakers, in areas aligned with the UN sustainable development goals.

Programme Design

This is a program that combines deep inner transformation, building leadership capabilities, along with social change. It’s a learning journey for your company executives to transform their leadership and engagement skills and techniques.

Upon completion of the program, you walk away as a manager who truly imbibes leadership, distinguished from management. You walk away as a person who is transformed as a human being, as a manager and an executive, and is far more empathetic. You will be truly purposeful, and will be able to richly communicate with whomsoever you interact with. Along with this, you will gain a perspective that is far outside the horizon of your own comfort zone.

So, what makes the Change Leaders Challenge any different than other leadership programs?

First, there is the Inner journey across the year, through nearly 100 hours in workshop sessions, and much more in inward looking assignments. The managers will first undergo a transformation – personal, deeply introspective and Purpose based. Then, they will be oriented to a world of non-profit. More on this in Mission Impossible Leaders program.

Second, there is an equally incredible outer learning journey.  The manager (Change Leader) is  hand-held to work closely with the head of an NGO *(Changemaker) in a structured, yet open manner. The Challenge is to find ’smart” ways to increase the impact of that NGO in a year considerably.

4 Key Steps

Change Leaders, will use their business acumen, planning and execution capability to find smart ways to increase the “impact” of that NGO, in a structured design.  A senior experienced ‘Ideator’ will work alongside them, to help them both envision a common one year goal

As they begin working with the NGO towards the goal, they will have a chance to fully understand its functioning. During this process, they will have a “Data Gathering & Discovery Session” in which you may either have a face-to-face or a video interaction with the NGO, the team, the beneficiaries. And get to know more deeply.
Every few weeks (depending on the convenience of the Change Leader, the NGO, and the Ideator), there will be a follow-up interaction, called the “Growth Session”. Change Leaders will look at stepping out of their comfort zone and achieving things that they hadn’t ever thought of before. Imagine trying to discover a way to discern if someone is illiterate or schooled. No certificates exist for not going to school!
The impact that both the Change Leader and Changemaker delivered is measured to ensure the goals are met.

The Change Leader provides actual value to the NGO, and also takes away huge learning from the NGO – in understanding “depth”, in really getting to grips with social entrepreneurship, and a widened perspective to include the rural community.

Transform your own life, and then help transform a Changemaker’s world! Discover your inner truth, and your life’s true Purpose. A life-changing experience.
